Pulwama killings: JKLF leaders, activists offer funeral prayers in absentia | KNO

Srinagar, December 15 (KNO) : Following the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, JKLF leaders and activists on Tuesday offered funeral prayers in absentia in Maisuma Srinagar for recent slain in Pulwama. In a statement issued to KNO, JKLF spokesman said that tributes were paid to those who were killed in Pulwama and participants expressed solidarity with their kin and kith. Various JKLF leaders including Secretary General JKLF Ghulam Rasool Dar, Zonal General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, zonal vice president Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Mir Muhammad Zaman, Professor Javed,Mushtaq Ahmad Khan,Javeed Ahmad Bhat along with resistance Leaders Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and trade union leader Sajad Gul etc participated in this prayers meeting and paid tributes to the slain Pulwama persons. Meanwhile, JKLF said that United Nations should take a serious note of happenings in Kashmir and follow up its recent report on human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir with some concrete steps to save the lives of innocent Kashmiris. Spokesman said that JKLF leaders while addressing protest rallies across Azad Kashmir and Pakistan held against ‘unabated Indian state terrorism’ in Jammu Kashmir said that “killing innocent Kashmiris will actually gain nothing but shame and disgrace. The blood of martyrs will never go waste.” The protests were jointly organized and led by JKLF and JKSLF. Spokesman said that JKLF UK and EU Zones are going to hold similar protests in front of Indian Embassies and High Commissions on 20th December 2018. Protests are also scheduled in UK, France, Belgium, Finland and many other important cities. In Pakistan similar protests will be held Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore too. Meanwhile, Malik expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Muhammad Subhan Sheikh, father of incarcerated JKLF senior member Assadullah Sheikh of Kulgam. Assadullah Sheikh was arrested by police in 2016 and slapped with a PSA and released after one year of incarceration, soon after his release this ailing political worker was again put behind bars under PSA and is still languishing in Kot-balwal jail, the statement said. “Such is the callous and brutal behavior of police and civil administration that this political activist is not being released and given a chance to offer funeral prayers for his dead father and share moments of grief with his bereaved family,” he said. Malik has also expressed heartfelt grief over the demise of the mother of another senior JKLF member Showkat Ahmad Gatoo of Bijbihara and also at the demise of the mother of Master Muhammad Akram of Hardutoor Shangus. JKLF vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, District president Islamabad Muhammad Ishaaq and district president Kulgam Abdul Sattar along with others visited the bereaved families and expressed condolences to them.(KNO)
